The All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate in Cross River State, Senator John Owan-Enoh has pleaded with his counterpart in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Prof Bed Ayade to ensure that the blood of the people of the state should not be shed during campaign.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Owan-Enoh said “Blood of Cross Riverian should not be shared during the course of our campaigns. Gov. Ayade should not encourage campaign with bloodshed.

“As we go into the field to canvass for votes, we should ensure that campaigns are carried out in peaceful manner. It was his dream to ensure that the state witness a free fair/peaceful elections devoid of bloodshed.

“I hope to run the campaigns unimpeded across the northern and central senatorial district of the state. We appeal to the leadership of Cross River State under the watch of Prof. Ben Ayade to allow peace to reign in the state.”

The governorship candidate said “I will welcome my opponent in my village with a red carpet”, adding that a campaign with bloodshed was savage, barbaric and should not be encourage.

Enoh promised that if he is elected, the fortunes of the state will be turnaround so that the state can witness “those better days it used to be in the past.”

On what he intends to do to resolve the controversy surrounding the ownership of the original candidature for the state APC guber candidate, Enoh stated that he had so far extended olive branch to his friend, the minister of Niger Delta Affairs who is claiming to be the candidate for the Cross River State APC even when the party had given the ticket to him.

Enoh who is a current senator representing Cross River central senatorial district stated that he will give a listening ear to people’s opinion, adding that it would not make him a lesser governor.

He said that his government will not be run as a family affair, but as an all purpose government which will accommodate all.

On the issue of rumor making the rounds that his kinsmen were in tough opposition to his candidature, Enoh said that it was ridiculous for anyone to think that his people would be against him.

He said, “If people who fought me in the past had known that as they are fighting me I will live to stand here and canvass votes for governorship candidate, they wouldn’t have done so at the first instance.”
