AEW boss Tony Khan isn’t taking any prisoners as he’s claimed this week’s episode of WWE Raw ‘sucked’.
The All Elite Wrestling chief – who certainly isn’t shy about sharing his opinion online – has taken another shot at Vince McMahon’s promotion just days before the two companies go head-to-head with their respective Rampage and SmackDown shows.
Speaking to Barstool Sports, he said: ‘We’ll see what happens. I’m not saying for sure we’ll win [the ratings on Friday], and maybe the odds are against us in some ways.
‘But we’re going to give a better show. I know. If you don’t believe me, watch the go-home show they did last night, because it sucked.’
Although AEW Rampage typically starts as soon as SmackDown finishes, this week’s WWE show comes with a 30-minute, commercial free overrun which will feature a blockbuster match between Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch.
In turn, Khan has responded with a special hour-long Buy In episode on YouTube which will clash with the final hour of SmackDown, and see Bryan Danielson take on Minoru Suzuki, and Bobby Fish versus Lee Moriarty.
The AEW boss has also insisted she deliberately chose to have Rampage air after the blue brand to allow fans to watch both if they wanted to.
He said: ‘We’ve really allowed the shows to co-exist. I put my show on consciously after SmackDown, knowing that there’s a huge audience that watches that show and many of those people are going to watch Rampage.
‘It’s been a huge hit for TNT. We’ve had nights where we were number one. We’ve been in the top 10, top 20 consistently.’
And he urged fans to simply tune into ‘whatever’ show they want, while again claiming his promotion is ‘the best’.
‘I want for the fans to be able to watch all the wrestling. I’ll coin a phrase right now that I’ll use from now on: WYW. Watch your wrestling,’ he added.
‘Whatever you want to watch, watch it. A lot of people have chosen to watch AEW because it’s the best show.’
