Activision wants to make Call Of Duty: Vanguard a trilogy, as the writers talk about making the characters as famous as Master Chief.

Battlefield 2042 may have the upper hand in terms of hype at the moment, but the safe bet is still on Call Of Duty: Vanguard being the biggest seller this Christmas.

There definitely seems to be less excitement around the story campaign than usual but as far as the writers are concerned they have high hopes for the characters, which they want to become as well known as Master Chief from Halo.

‘When you think about a game like Halo, you think of Master Chief, but when you think of COD there’s not really those standout characters, said writer Sam Maggs at the New York Comic Con. ‘And so we came into this like, ‘Who could be our flagship COD characters?’ Because we want to make Vanguard 2 and Vanguard 3, because we have two more stories that we really want to tell with these characters.’

‘We are hoping that if people love them as much as we do, that we get to continue to tell the story of these people and make them sort of like figureheads for this era of COD basically’, she added.

‘That info, by the way, is a Comic Con exclusive. We have never said that publicly before’, added fellow writer Tochi Onyebuchi.

What the writers want doesn’t necessarily carry all that much weight but if the game is successful it certainly wouldn’t be the first trilogy for one of Call Of Duty’s sub-series.

The characters in question are from key Allied countries in the Second World War, including Briton Arthur Kingsley, Australian Lucas Riggs, American Wade Jackson, and Russian Polina Petrova.

The plot of the game seems to involve them all teaming up in a special forces attack on Berlin, although the exact details of the story remain unclear.

Call Of Duty: Vanguard will launch on November 5 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
