Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson shared his regret about taking his feud with Vin Diesel public but insisted he stands behind what he said at the time.

The Fast and Furious stars have managed to make peace since they famously clashed in 2016 and, in a new interview, the former wrestler admitted he wishes he hadn’t shared the social media post which saw him refer to Diesel, 54, as a ‘candy a**’.

Speaking candidly to Vanity Fair about the post, the 49-year-old stated: ‘It wasn’t my best day, sharing that. I shouldn’t have shared that. Because at the end of the day, that goes against my DNA.

‘I don’t share things like that. And I take care of that kind of bulls**t away from the public. They don’t need to know that.’

The pair’s relationship came under strain while filming Fate of the Furious, when Johnson wrote: ‘My female co-stars are always amazing, and I love ’em. My male co-stars however are a different story.’

In comments believed to have been aimed at Diesel, the Baywatch star added: ‘Some conduct themselves as stand-up men and true professionals, while others don’t.

‘The ones that don’t are too chicken s**t to do anything about it anyway. Candy a**es.

‘When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling – you’re right.’

The film was set to be the last appearance for Johnson in the main cast of the Fast franchise which he had joined from 2011’s Fast Five, though he appeared in the spin-off, Hobbs & Shaw in 2019.

In the interview, the San Andreas actor claimed that crew members had ‘quietly thanked’ him for speaking out publicly.

After some subtle back and forth, the film stars had a ‘peace meeting’ in which they attempted to settle their issues.

Johnson reflected: ‘I wouldn’t call it a peaceful meeting. I would call it a meeting of clarity.

‘He and I had a good chat in my trailer, and it was out of that chat that it really became just crystal clear that we are two separate ends of the spectrum. And agreed to leave it there.’

The Black Adam actor explained that the pair’s clash came down to their different work styles, stating they were ‘philosophically two different people, and we approach the business of moviemaking in two very different ways’.

He explained: ‘It’s the philosophy of going into work every day. Looking at everybody as equal partners. And looking at the studio as equal partners.

‘And looking at the crew, regardless of where you’re at, either on the call sheet or otherwise, as equal partners—with respect and with humility, and being respectful of the process and every other human being who is putting in just as much time, just as much hard work and sweat equity, if not more.’

He stressed: ‘I think it’s always been important to me to always be straight up and look somebody in the eye. And if you say you’re going to do something, do it.’

Elsewhere, Diesel claimed the pair’s feud had been down to the fact they are both ‘alpha male types’.

One thing they can both agree on is the fact they won’t be working together again after the whole debacle.
