Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has hit out at match officials over what he called “scandalous” penalty decisions as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Newcastle on Tuesday.
Arteta feels his team should have been awarded at least two spot kicks as they failed to breach the Magpies’ backline at the Emirates.
The first was a shirt tug from Dan Burn on Gabriel Magalhaes and the Murphy handball incident late in the game.
Arteta said: “We had so many situations and then we had two scandalous penalties.
“They are two penalties, it’s very simple. I’m talking about what I’ve seen, now, and it’s two scandalous penalties.”
Arsenal are now eight points clear of Manchester City, who are away to Chelsea on Thursday night.
