Former Tottenham midfielder, Jamie Redknapp has told Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang that he failed as an Arsenal player and cannot succeed at Chelsea.
According to Redknapp, the Gabon international ‘is not the answer’ to the Blues’ scoring struggles.
Chelsea could only manage a draw against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Sunday after taking the lead through Raheem Sterling.
Forest returned from the break very much stronger with Serge Aurier volley leveling things up for the home side.
The Blues are now seven points adrift of the top four as Aubameyang missed a great chance to score late on.
Redknapp is convinced the 33-year-old Aubameyang is long past his best.
Slamming the Gabon international, Redknapp said: “He wasn’t the answer at Arsenal so he’s not going to be the answer now at Chelsea.
“He’s getting older now. He’s not the player that he was. They’re trying to get [Christopher] Nkunku, that’s the player they’re after, whether they are going to get him I’m not sure.”
