Former Liverpool player, Graeme Souness, has slammed Manchester United’s decision to allow defender, Jonny Evans, to leave Old Trafford in 2015.
Souness insisted that Evans is better than all Man United current centre-backs – Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelöf and Eric Bailly.
VELOXNEWS reports that Evans came through Man United’s academy and went on to play alongside legendary figures at the Red Devils, including Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.
However, the 33-year-old left Man United for West Brom six years ago after he was deemed surplus to requirements.
“The thing you have to get right at a football club is recruitment and since Fergie went, it has been a masterclass in how to get it wrong,” Souness told talkSPORT.
“That is how I see it. You look at the players they have brought in, the players they have sold.
“Jonny Evans was allowed to leave. Jonny Evans is better than any centre-half [Maguire, Eric Bailly, Victor, etc] they have now. I just don’t get it.”
