Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has applauded the orderly conduct of the triennial conference by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) held in Umuahia, the State capital.
The Governor also thanked the delegates of the NUJ for the confidence reposed in Chris Isiguzo by reelecting him for another term.
In a statement by the State Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, and issued to newsmen in Umuahia, on Friday, Ikpeazu informed the journalists that it is a joyous event that journalists across the country came to the State for such an auspicious gathering, which amongst other things availed them the opportunity to see that Abia is still one of the safest states in Nigeria, as well as enjoy the hospitality of the people of the State.
He expressed appreciation to the delegates of the NUJ for the confidence reposed in Chief Isiguzo who is an illustrious son of the State.
The Abia Chief Executive further congratulated Isiguzo on his re-election.
Ikpeazu pledged his administration’s continued partnership with the NUJ in particular and the media in general, urging the relected NUJ National President, Comrade Chris Isiguzo to leverage on his wealth of experience to ensure that journalists in the country continued to raise the bar in their professional practice
