Kogi PDP Chieftain mourns soldiers killed by terrorists in Abuja – VELOXNEWS

From Noah Ebije, Kaduna

A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and former governorship Aspirant in Kogi State, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Idris has mourned the killing of eight soldiers by Boko Haram in Abuja few days ago.

The soldiers were Presidential Brigade of Guards who were ambushed by Boko Haram insurgency close to law school, Bwari, Abuja.

However, Alhaji Abubakar Idris who was saddened over the death of two of the soldiers who are of Kogi State extraction and others, conveyed  his condolence to the immediate families of the deceased as well as the State government.

The former governorship Aspirant noted that Captain Samuel Attah and Lieutenant Jauro Ibrahim Suleiman who were killed in the insurgency attack are illustrious sons of Kogi State whose contributions to the country cannot be forgotten.

In a statement by his media office, Alhaji Idris noted that the incident was a big loss to the entire country, and prayed that God granted them eternal rest.

“This is indeed a sad and big loss to their immediate families, the State and the country in general.

“The ugly and sad development once again necessitated a call for urgent restructuring of the nation’s security apparatus.

“We can no longer shy away from the fact that the country is at war with the insurgents, and therefore, those responsible for protecting our sovereignty should be at alert all the times to secure the citizens.

“Though  we cannot question the Creator over this sad incident as we grieve over the demise of our young and gallant sons, we pray that God forgives their sins and grant them eternal rest.

“It is indeed a tragic loss to the entire Kogi State, we will continue to remember the honour they brought to the State, and the sacrifices they made will never be forgotten. May God grant them eternal rest”. Alhaji Abubakar Idris said.
