Man, 22, fighting for life after triple shooting outside barber shop

A man was left fighting for life while another two were wounded after a triple shooting outside an east London barber shop.

Shots were fired in Upton Lane, Forest Gate – a crowded part of the borough of Newham – just before 7pm on Friday night.

Three men suffered gunshot injuries and were rushed to hospital.

One man, 22, was also stabbed moments later and remains in a critical condition, police said on Saturday.

The other two victims, aged 19 and 17, are also being treated in hospital but their injuries are not life threatening.

A black Audi A7 car believed to have been used by the suspects was found abandoned in Devenay Road, Stratford, east London.

Detectice Sergeant Mat Freeman, of the VELOXNEWSpolitan Police’s specialist crime unit, branded the use of the gun as ‘callous and reckless’.

He has vowed to find those responsible and bring them to justice.

DS Freeman said: ‘I am appealing for information from members of the public and for any witnesses who have yet to speak with police to come forward.

‘It is possible that members of the public may have captured footage of the incident or of those involved on phones or dashcam, and I ask anyone with material such as this to get in touch.

‘The suspects made off in a black Audi A7 which was found abandoned.

‘I need to hear from anyone who saw a group behaving suspiciously with this vehicle or recalls seeing an unfamiliar black Audi A7 parked in the area.’

Police have yet to make any arrests and continue to investigate the incident, which is not being treated as terrorism.

Crime scenes remain in place as forensic work continues, police said.

Newham Police also urged people to share the appeal for information and witnesses, tweeting on Saturday: ‘Detectives from Specialist Crime are investigating the triple shooting in Forest Gate.

‘One man is in a critical condition.’

A Section 60 order which gives officers greater stop and search powers was issued for the borough until 3pm on Saturday.
