Muslims, Christians, community leaders worship in Kaduna church – VELOXNEWS

From Noah Ebije, Kaduna

As part of efforts to promote peaceful co-existence among Christians and Muslims in Kaduna State, Islamic clerics and community leaders, yesterday, joined their Christian counterparts in Sunday service at the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Gospel Church, Lemu Road in Kaduna metropolis.

Their participation was at the instance of the church in its efforts at strengthening religious harmony and peaceful co-existence among the people regardless of religious differences.

Some of the Muslims who attended the church service were Nigerians living within and around the community where the church is located.

Among community – leaders who attended the Sunday service include, the District Head of Barnawa, Kabiru Zubairu, the Wakilin Shehu Borno, Bata Madaki Auta and Sarkin Dutse, Shuaibu Balarebe Abdullahi.

The Islamic clerics, who honoured the invitation and shared their thoughts on peaceful and religious co-existence include, Sheihk Dahiru Abdullahi, Hamisu Ya’u and Shehu Ayotola.

All the Islamic clerics, who shared their thoughts unanimously agreed there is no basis whatsoever why Christians and Muslims should fight instead of being each other’s keepers.

They said: “You cannot be said to be a good Muslim if you don’t like your Christian neighbours and vice versa.”

However, they lamented why peaceful and religious togetherness between Christians and Muslims has eluded the state.

To this end, they urged all and sundry to join hands together and bring back the good old days where Christians relate with Muslims as brothers and vice versa.

For Abdullahi, “Muslims and Christians are twins, Christianity and Islam have not changed but Christians and Muslims have changed and people have succeeded to divide the two religions for their selfish gains. We must return to olden days where Christians and Muslims see each other as brothers.”

Also, Ya’u, who is the executive secretary, Sultan Bello Mosque and chief Imam, Sardauna Mosque, Kawo said: “The devil is our common problem and we must all unite to fight the devil. Humanity should be respected above religion and accepting each other the way we are.”
