A Nigerian residing in Rome has accused members of staff of the Nigerian High Commission in Rome of extortion and frustrating efforts of Nigerians to renew their passports. In a Twitter post, @nosafk said he paid for his wife to renew her passport. He said after payment, he was shocked to find out that he couldn't get a date for an appointment for her until 2080. He alleged that people can only get appointments if they ''bribe'' their way through. According to him, the money paid to get an appointment date depends on the staff that will help to facilitate the date. He claimed people get to pay as much as £200 to get appointment dates. Some Nigerians who have also experienced this shared their experiences while reacting to his tweets.
