Sanwo-Olu calls for urgent review of nation’s security architecture – Veloxnews


By Wilfred EyaLagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called for an urgent review of the nation’s policing and security architecture, saying Nigeria cannot continue with a dysfunctional structure that has obvious room for improvement.He said more far-reaching structural reforms need to be done in security management.Sanwo-Olu made the remarks yesterday, in Lagos, at the 16th Annual Town Hall Meeting on Security with the Governor. He said the state government’s security policy is driven by the need for a wholly secured environment that enables the well-being, prosperity and fulfilment of residents.“We will continue to send a strong and loud message to all purveyors of crime and criminality in Lagos  State. We will stay ahead of your intentions and actions, and we will fight for you with everything we have. There will be no room for actions that undermine our well-being and our capacity to achieve our dreams and aspirations.”He urged Lagosians to get involved in securing the state, saying it remains the collective responsibility of all. He assured the government would continue to lead in providing a safe and secure environment for the prosperity of all.Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, said the fast-moving status of Lagos from a mega to a smart city has placed daunting challenges on the command. He said the command has been working round the clock, to ensure that crime is reduced to the barest minimum.The CP thanked the Lagos State government for the enormous support to the command.
