Unidentified gunmen have killed a pastor and one other person in Lisuru Gida, Ikulu Chiefdom, Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The state Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. John Joseph Hayab, who confirmed the incident to VELOXNEWS, described the development as a very sad situation.

He affirmed that the victims were coming from farm when the gunmen opened fire on them and killed them on Monday evening.

He called on the government to rise to the present challenge of insecurity the citizens are faced with, adding that the situation is so alarming that people hardly move freely to go about their normal activities in order to earn their means of livelihood.

According to Rev. Hayab, “We are living in a sympathetic situation that people are being killed for no just cause. Indeed, something urgent needs to be done to arrest the situation to save people from the ugly situation that is on the increase every day. I also pray that God in His mercy gives our leaders the wisdom and understanding to be able to bring the situation under control and enable them to freely go about their normal way of life.”

A resident in the area said the gunmen opened fire on him and the other person on their way home from their farms around 6 pm.

He said that suspected Fulani militias carried out the deadly act, explaining that the community has sometimes been under serious attacks leading to loss of lives and property.

He lamented, “Neighbouring communities have always been suspecting the Fulanis who we always see as our own that we are living together.”
