A 23-year-old tricyclist, Gabriel Lawal, was on Thursday docked in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly knocking down and injury to a policewoman.
The police charged Lawal, who resides in Alagbado, Lagos, with reckless driving, driving without a licence and dangerous driving.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Samuel Mishozunnu told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 3, at 8 p.m., Along Kola Bus Stop, Alagbado, Lagos.
He said the defendant drove a tricycle with registration number RAD 667 QJ, in a reckless manner and hit a police officer DSP Jokotola Akinfolarin, on her way back from the office.
Mishozunnu said Akintolarin sustain severe bodily injuries.
The offence, he said, is punishable under the sections 50(1), 12 and 51 of the Road Traffic Law Acts of Lagos State, 2012.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs O. O. Kolola, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000, with one surety in like sum.
Kolola adjourned the case until Aug.15, for a hearing. (NAN)
