Jesy Nelson has insisted there is no ‘bad blood’ with Little Mix but confirmed they are ‘no longer speaking’.

Earlier this month, Jesy took part in an Instagram Live with her Boyz collaborator Nicki Minaj, in which the US rapper appeared to call Leigh-Anne Pinnock a ‘clown’ for not sticking up for her former band mate when she was accused of ‘blackfishing’ – a form of cultural appropriation.

Since then, Jesy has stayed relatively quiet despite being in the middle of a promotional tour to promote her debut single, but will be making her TV debut as a solo artist and performing in front of former president Barack Obama on tonight’s The Graham Norton Show.

‘We’re not talking any more,’ she told Graham. ‘It is sad but honestly there is no bad blood from my side, and I still love them to pieces and genuinely wish them all the best.

‘I loved my time with them, and we’ve got the most incredible memories together but It’s just one of those things which needs to take time, so who knows.’

After being criticised for distancing herself from Little Mix’s music, Jesy stressed: ‘To me they are still the sickest girl band in the world.’

Jesy previously addressed the blackfishing accusations, telling Vulture: ‘The whole time I was in Little Mix I never got any of that.

‘And then I came out of [the band] and people all of a sudden were saying it. I wasn’t on social media around that time, so I let my team [deal with it], because that was when I’d just left.’

She added: ‘But I mean, like, I love Black culture. I love Black music. That’s all I know; it’s what I grew up on. I’m very aware that I’m a white British woman; I’ve never said that I wasn’t.’

Jesy’s former Little Mix bandmates Leigh-Anne, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards have yet to address the drama.

The Graham Norton Show airs tonight 10.35pm on BBC One.
