Tom Fletcher is set to make his return to Strictly Come Dancing this weekend after missing week two of the show due to Covid-19.

The McFly star and dance partner Amy Dowden were both confirmed to have tested positive for the virus the day after he made his dancefloor debut – also leading to Tom missing several tour dates he was due to play with the band.

So he’ll be hoping to make a splash on the dancefloor as he returns for the show’s Movie Week – although he’s already looking at some stiff comparisons: bandmate Harry Judd previously won Strictly in 2011 (and won’t be afraid to use that against his friend) and his wife Giovanna Fletcher triumphed on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! 2020.

If anyone has proven he can conquer different skills, though, it’s Tom Fletcher. From McFly to becoming a children’s author, let’s find out more about the star…

Who is Tom Fletcher?

Tom, 36, is best known for being the lead singer and guitarist in pop-rock group McFly along with Harry Judd, Dougie Poynter, and Danny Jones.

The group have been together on and off since 2003 releasing singles such as 5 Colours In Her Hair, Obviously and more recently, You’re Not Special.

In 2006, Tom and the rest of the McFly boys moved to the big screen, appearing alongside Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine in the movie Just My Luck.

McFly joined forces with their one-time rival, fellow noughties boyband Busted in 2013.

As McBusted, they played a 34-date tour with both Busted and McFly songs.

Who is Tom Fletcher married to and how many children do they have?

The star has been married to author Giovanna since 2012 and the couple share sons Buzz (seven), Buddy (five), and Max (three).

Giovanna Fletcher – sister to TOWIE’s Mario Falcone – is a podcast host, author, and actress.

The best-selling author has penned 11 books in total.

McFly’s hit single All About You was actually written about Giovanna as a Valentine’s present from Tom in 2004.

Giovanna isn’t the only wordsmith in the family, Tom has published over 30 books in total.

Fletcher released his first children’s book in 2012.

Co-written with band-mate Dougie Poynter, the book, The Dinosaur that Pooped Christmas, sold over 72,000 copies and became the most popular debut children’s book of 2012.

The pair have gone on to follow up with eight other titles in The Dinosaur that Pooped series.

Fletcher has also released many novels as a solo author.

His first solo works, The Christmasaurus, came out in October 2016, and told the story of a young boy called William Trundle who goes on a magical adventure on Christmas Eve.

A musical version of the book was released a year later.

Since then, Fletcher has gone on to write over 15 more books as a solo author, including The Creakers (2017), There’s an Alien in Your Book (2019), and the Danger Gang (2020).

Strictly Come Dancing airs tonight at 6.45pm on BBC One.
